Subject: Win 7 - WMP12 (wmpnetwk.exe)
Any one know of a 'true' fix for the high resourses usage/issue which is a
result from the in ability to disable the WMP Network Sharing option under
WMP12?

Have performed the services, WMP network sharing, stop, manual, option
however it restarts after the next reboot - process followed a second time
and remved the restart if failure option.

Seems to be ok now - however, has MS released a better resolution to this
issue?

Running a brand new system at 50%+ CPU usage is crazy for a single process,
especially one that it not frequently used such as WMP Network Sharing...

Anyone know any further info?

I think it's on by default for the majority of users to make sharing
work out of the box.

Instead of all the Services malarkey, if you go to Control Panel -<
Network and Internet -> Homegroup, configure sharing and uncheck
Libraries (pictures, music, videos) and uncheck "Share media with
devices", that should be enough to prevent it running...

You probably need to kill the WMPNetworkService process once from Task
Manager (Show processes from all users) but it shouldn't scan the
devices after that.

HTH

How about a fix for people that actually want to use media sharing?
Just not 24 hours a day...
